The Lutheran Church is the largest Protestant Church in the world. Established in the wake of Martin Luther's challenge of Church practices in the sixteenth century, the Lutheran Church continues to focus its worship life upon Word and Sacrament. In these gifts we believe God reveals himself and makes himself present to the faithful.
Emmaus is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA is the largest Lutheran body in the United States with more than 5 million members and 11,000 congregations. United by the Holy Spirit, these congregations work together to proclaim God's Word and to serve their communities. Emmaus is proud to be a part of this vital church fellowship.
Emmaus was officially organized in 1893 by Danish immigrants who sought to "further the Kingdom of God among us." This has been the congregation's focus for well over 100 years.
Today Emmaus is a diverse congregation made up of people from a variety of backgrounds who share the same commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
